You don’t just end up at Café Rider by accident. You go there on purpose. Past the warehouses and dust of Al Quoz, into a space that feels intentionally built for people who care about craft. It is not just a café. It is a place that holds memory, character, and quiet reverence for everything it serves and stands for.
When we began planning The Home Barista Show, we knew it had to be more than just another coffee event. We wanted to create something personal. A gathering that felt welcoming, unfiltered, and rooted in genuine passion. We needed a space that reflected that spirit. Café Rider was the obvious choice.
As I wrote in an article on the shop, this is a café where grease meets crema, where the espresso machine hums like a heartbeat, and where hospitality is not a script but a feeling. That kind of space cannot be faked. It has to be lived in. Café Rider is that space.
What is The Home Barista Show?
The Home Barista Show is the first coffee event in the UAE designed specifically for people who brew at home.
Most coffee events are built for industry professionals. This one is not. This one is for the everyday enthusiast, the curious newcomer, and the passionate hobbyist standing behind a kitchen counter.
This event is about making specialty coffee feel approachable. No gatekeeping. No jargon. Just real people sharing what they know and love. Whether you brew with an AeroPress, a V60, or a home espresso machine, you will find something here that deepens your understanding and fuels your enthusiasm.

Learn from the champions
We have invited the UAE’s top baristas to share what they do best. But instead of just performing, they will be teaching. They will demonstrate their techniques in a way that’s relevant to home brewing. Whether you want to perfect your pour-over, dial in your espresso, or learn how to make a coffee cocktail, this is your chance to learn from the best.
Our champions include:
- Aldy Nugraha, National Barista Champion
- Mariam Erin, National Brewers Cup Champion
- Sonam Sherpa, National Aeropress Champion
- Jane Espante, National Coffee in Good Spirits Champion
Don’t think of them as experts. Think of them as mentors. And they will be at The Home Barista Show, for you.

Learn from the home brewers
Alongside the champions, four home brewers will take the stage to share their routines, their favorite gear, and the small rituals that make brewing coffee at home feel special.
- Robert Hamilton will demonstrate the SD1 dripper, a tool known for consistency and clarity
- Naveed Syed will showcase the Hoop brewer, a forgiving and innovative design perfect for daily use
- The Cafficonados will present the Origami dripper, sharing their creative approach to brewing as a duo
- The fourth slot will go to one lucky home brewer selected through a live draw on our Instagram page
These are not coffee professionals. They are people just like you, finding joy in the process of making great coffee at home. And they will be at The Home Barista Show, for you.

What to expect on the day
This is not a sit-back-and-watch event. It is interactive, informal, and built to engage. Whether you stay for an hour or the whole afternoon, there will always be something happening.
- A public cupping to begin the morning
- Brewing sessions and demos throughout the day
- Flash prizes for attendees at random times
- A grand prize giveaway of a home espresso machine
- A closing throwdown where the champions face off against the home brewers
There will also be opportunities to ask questions, taste different coffees, and connect with others who love coffee as much as you do.

Why Cafe Rider is the perfect venue
Café Rider was created by Murtaza Moulvi, a banker who became a biker and built a café not to serve coffee, but to create community. It became a place where people lingered. Where stories were shared. Where the smell of leather mixed with the scent of espresso. It still is today.
There is a kind of magic in this space. A warmth. A memory. The team here greets you with sincerity and carries forward the vision of what this café was always meant to be. That is why we chose it.
We did not want a generic hall. We wanted a venue that had heart. Café Rider has that in abundance.
