The Home Barista Show returned on Saturday with its second edition, hosted at Archers Coffee Roastery in Sharjah. Just two days later, the conversations, the brews, and the atmosphere are still fresh in my mind. This was not another coffee industry trade show. It was a gathering designed for home brewers. People who brew every morning in their kitchens. People who want to learn, connect, and feel like part of something bigger.
A new kind of coffee event in Sharjah
Sharjah’s specialty coffee community has grown rapidly in recent years. Cafés, roasters, and home brewers are shaping a culture that is curious, thoughtful, and committed to better coffee. Hosting the Home Barista Show here made sense. Limiting tickets to just 100 kept the event small, focused, and interactive. Every attendee had time to brew, taste, and ask questions without feeling rushed.
Archers Coffee Roastery, founded by Fred and Kemal, opened its doors for the event. Known for transparency in sourcing and roasting, Archers is one of the most respected roasteries in the UAE. In my mind, one of the country’s top 5. Their decision to host the show signaled belief in the growing importance of the home brewer.

Highlights from the day
Mirzam hot chocolate at the show
One of the most talked-about tables was Mirzam, the Dubai-based craft chocolate maker. While Mirzam is known for its award-winning chocolate bars, on Saturday they served hot chocolate that quickly became a favorite among attendees. For me, what stood out most was the person serving it, Elijah. Warm, engaged, and passionate. It showed how Mirzam approaches chocolate with care and hospitality, aligning perfectly with the Home Barista Show’s community spirit.

Comandante grinders and respect for home brewers
For years, Comandante grinders have set the global standard for precision hand grinding. By supporting the event, Comandante showed that the dedication of people who grind and brew at home deserves the same recognition as professionals on competition stages.
Attendees also had the chance to win a limited-edition Comandante grinder, created specifically for the Home Barista Show.

Acaia scales and precision in every cup
Acaia sponsored the event with a scale giveaway. Known worldwide for accuracy and design, Acaia scales are trusted by barista champions and home brewers alike. Their presence reinforced a key message: precision is not reserved for cafés. It belongs in every home kitchen.
Brewista Artisan kettles on every table
The official kettle of the Sharjah edition was the Brewista Artisan. Every pourover brewed at the show used it. With accurate temperature control and a gooseneck spout designed for steady pouring, it allowed brewers to focus on technique and taste. Brewista also provided a kettle for a giveaway.
UFO Dripper: the official brewer of the show
The UFO Dripper, created by Jay Kim, was chosen as the official dripper for the event. Every station used it, creating a shared experience that sharpened learning. Attendees explored different techniques with the same tool, making it easier to see how grind size, pour rate, and water flow changed the cup.
Jay Kim could not attend in person, but he sent signed drippers and merchandise that became some of the most memorable giveaways of the day.

Why Archers was the right venue
Archers Coffee Roastery brought credibility and warmth to the event. Fred and Kemal have helped shape the UAE’s specialty coffee scene. They compete, judge, and share knowledge, but what stands out most is their consistency. By hosting the Home Barista Show, they reinforced the idea that home brewers are an essential part of the coffee community.
Brewing Gadgets: steady support behind the scenes
Since the first event in Dubai, Brewing Gadgets has been the backbone of this project. Goutham, founder and CEO, has always said the future of coffee lies with home brewers. His belief, and his company’s support, have made it possible to grow the show from an idea into a reality.

What made the Home Barista Show different
Unlike traditional coffee festivals, the Home Barista Show had no stages, no sales pitches, and no performances. Instead, every table offered hands-on brewing. Attendees could try tools, ask questions, and learn directly from people who care about coffee.
By limiting the crowd and focusing on interactivity, the event stayed intimate. The result was a sense of belonging. Conversations flowed easily. People met for the first time and left as friends.
A space of their own
The Home Barista Show is still young, but reminded me of its potential. From the taste of Mirzam hot chocolate to the sound of kettles boiling on every table, the day carried a sense of possibility. Home brewers are finding their place in the wider coffee conversation, and this show is proof of that.
The next edition will build on this momentum. Wherever it happens, the goal will stay the same: give home brewers a space of their own.
