It’s easy to explore coffee in Brighton. Most of the shops (in this guide) sit around central Brighton streets such as Bond Street, Trafalgar Street, Gardner Street, Gloucester Road, Sydney Street, Brighton Square, and Meeting House Lane. So it becomes totally doable to visit several of them in one day.

If you needed a reason to visit the city, how about the Brighton Coffee Festival taking place on Saturday 8 August and Sunday 9 August at All Saints in Hove?

While you’re in town for the festival, these are the coffee shops to check out.

Bond Street Coffee

You’ll find Bond Street Coffee it at 15 Bond Street in the North Laine. And it fits right in. The North Laine is packed with cafés, vintage stores, record shops, and small businesses, and people come to Brighton specifically for areas like this.

Triple Point Coffee, at 53 Gardner Street in Brighton’s North Laine, is one of the city’s clearest expressions of modern specialty coffee. Opened in 2023, the café focuses on South Coast roasters, including Brighton social enterprise Skylark Coffee. The name is a reference to balance, borrowed from the scientific term “triple point.”

Komodo Coffee

Komodo Coffee sits at 19a Brighton Square in the Lanes. The café has built a reputation around espresso and filter coffee, with rotating beans from respected roasters. Some might say the space is small. Others will call it focused. Just like their approach to coffee.

DANDY.

Opened in 2023 by Rory and Holly McPhee, DANDY. is a specialty coffee shop by day and a natural wine bar by night. Located at 39A Sydney Street, the cafe feels small, independent, and distinctly personal. Less like a brand and more like an extension of Rory and Holly.
