Season 3 of the People’s Choice Coffee Awards is now open. In addition, the awards now have a dedicated website where coffee drinkers can vote for the coffee shop they genuinely love.
Created by FLTR Magazine, the awards recognise cafés through public voting. However, there are no judges, industry panels or technical scorecards. Therefore, the winner is chosen by valid votes from the people who visit, return, recommend and care.

Why these awards exist
Specialty coffee already has respected awards for technical excellence. For example, these awards recognise skill, craft and precision. As a result, they have helped make the coffee industry a better place.
However, the People’s Choice Coffee Awards asks a different question: which coffee shops have earned the loyalty of their customers?
In fact, customers experience cafés in a way a score sheet cannot capture. They notice the coffee, but they also notice the welcome, the service, the atmosphere, the consistency and the feeling of being looked after. Consequently, those details are often what make a coffee shop part of someone’s daily life.
For this reason, the awards were created to give those customers a vote.
What the first two Seasons showed
Season 1 was a pleasant surprise. In fact, I had a hunch consumers wanted to be heard. However, I didn’t realise they would be shouting.
As a result, the first campaign attracted votes from 45 countries, and the final Top 20 included coffee shops from 12 countries. Ultimately, Roasti Coffee Co. in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada became the first People’s Choice Coffee Awards winner. Meanwhile, Azura The Coffee Company in Muscat, Oman was the runner-up.
The comments submitted with votes were interesting. They told a clear story. Yes, people praised great coffee. But they also talked about teams who remembered them. Where they felt welcome. And places they wanted other people to discover.
Similarly, Season 2 continued the good vibes. For example, votes came from 28 countries across six continents, and Flat White Specialty Coffee & Kitchen in Qatar won.
My takeout so far: coffee brings people in, but it’s the full café experience that makes them vote.
How the new website works
The new People’s Choice Coffee Awards website is the initiative’s permanent home. Voters can choose any eligible coffee shop, share its location and Instagram handle, and explain why it deserves recognition in 50 words or less.
And, just in case you were wondering, coffee shops and voters do not need to pay an entry fee. Imagine that.
Afterwards, FLTR Magazine reviews the submissions and removes duplicate, automated, fraudulent or suspicious votes. Therefore, every valid vote carries equal value.
In addition, the current format recognises one People’s Choice winner each month. After verification, a ranked list is published, although individual vote totals are not made public.
Also, the site gives coffee shops access to a free participation kit with assets they can use across social media, websites, newsletters and in-store displays.

Season 3 is open
If there is a coffee shop you genuinely love, vote for it.
For instance, it might be your local café, a place you found while travelling, a roaster café you keep returning to, or the shop you recommend whenever someone asks where to drink good coffee.
In fact, you do not need to work in coffee or be a judge. Above all, you only need to know which coffee shop has earned your support.
That’s the point of the People’s Choice Coffee Awards.
As the awards grow, FLTR Magazine will continue building the platform with readers, cafés and aligned partners who believe customer loyalty deserves proper recognition. The process remains public-voted, with winners decided by valid customer support.
Finally, Season 3 is now open.
